That's pretty awesome, I enjoyed it a lot. I am surprised, though, I thought it wasn't really that popular.

Now if only Urara Meirochou will get a second season...

There was a lot of excitement for it before it aired but most people, myself included, didn't like how it was entirely focused on gag humor. Like we had these interesting characters and a weird pseudo-love triangle going on but every episode was just Japanese candy history lesson with jokes. If it stays that way, sure, I'll still watch it, but eh.

Hope so as well, considering that's pretty high on my watch list.

Dagashi Kashi was taunting me as a Westerner with all the stuff I can't buy - except Ramune. For some reason that's sold places.

The first season was really good. Kon is Best Girl of course.

Unless best girls can be a creepy doll made of wood and cloth, in which case Matsuko is Best Girl.

The more I watch of Hajimete no Gyaru/Gal/Whatever, the more I accept just how freaking terrible this show is. Like, subpar animation, off the street VA work, a story that is going absolutely nowhere, and fan service that isn't even all that great to look at... Yet why am I enjoying this show? Not like super enjoying it, but still enjoying it. Hum.

Maybe I just needed some trash in between episodes of Made in Abyss and Boku no Hero.

... Also my Kiss-shot figure should be arriving any day now. Hopefully.

How can you tell if Japanese voice acting is poorly done?

The same way you can tell your neighbor in middle school who just got called on by the teacher to read the second paragraph is a bad voice actor. Flat, poor execution of dialog. Obviously reading off a script. That sorta stuff.

If you don't know what I'm talking about.

What's better.

This

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHd3xfDzTg8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHd3xfDzTg8</a>

Or... Eh, this'll do.

http://www.crunchyroll.com/my-first-girlfriend-is-a-gal/episode-4-my-first-serious-gal-742289

Go to 17:45. (Or anywhere, really) Can't find anything specific on Youtube cause new show. Mild... "spoilers" I guess.

Obviously I'm comparing top to bottom here but I'm trying to make a point, you don't need to speak the language to feel the emotion... Or lack thereof. To toss out names, typically poorly acted shows have bad voice acting all the way through, so off the top of my head... Elfen Lied, Ghost Stories, Hajimete no Gyaru, Masamune-kun no Revenge, Asterisk War... I feel like Higurashi had poor voice acting too but I might be mistaken, it's been awhile. For good shows though, typically they have a few stand out scenes that you just don't forget. Rem's Confession from Re:ZERO, King Kittan Giga Drill Breaker from TTGL, Naota's last words to Haruko in FLCL, Senjougahara's date with Araragi in Monogatari, and probably my favorite, Squealer's words to Saki in Shin Sekai Yori. *cough*

I watched Death Parade for the first time last week and to say I was blown away is an understatement.

I don't quite understand how shows as reflective, intelligent, and emotional as these seem to get swept under the rug while shows that continue long past their death- Naruto- get all the coverage, but it makes me sad.

Death Parade was a story about human emotion, isolation, and our failed attempts to understand one another, but even with all the negatives that come from these parts of humanity, the fact that we still do persevere to understand and value the lives of others is what can make all the difference between being completely alone, and feeling touched by another.

Also dat intro.

Been streaming Yamato 2199 with Info-kun. It's been pretty fun and refreshing to see a retro-style sci-fi series. I need to go for some deep pulls and watch Macross along with some stuff from the 80's. That hand drawn animation is hard to beat when done well.

It's not currently offered by any legal services for streaming. So... Make of that what you will.

Death Parade actually had some good reception back when it was airing, but yeah. I mean it's mostly just a result of it being a one (or two?) season show while Naruto and Bleach had 10 years of being broadcast to multiple countries. Plus Shounen shows typically get a wider audience (teens), even if they absolutely suck by comparison. Looking at you SAO.

Also ah, somebody who respects the finer things in anime. Sick OPs.

And something for myself...

An anime series... For Junji Ito's works... By Studio Deen (KonoSuba, Higurashi)... Winter 2018....

Well gee. To say I'm looking forward to that is something of an understatement.

Incidentally, Vay, you really should see Koe no Katachi, which I was gushing about in here a few months ago. I think you would really appreciate it.

It's been pretty fun. Though Yamato does make use of a lot of CGI too. They just do it really well so it blends smoothly with the rest. All exterior shots are CGI, but most of them don't look it.

I need to go for some deep pulls and watch Macross along with some stuff from the 80's.

Do you have any idea how excited I would be if someone remade Macross with modern artwork and tightened up the story, the same as was done with Yamato 2199?

About this excited:

So a little while ago I poasted about some Overwatch playlists I had made. Basically I made a bunch of music playlists for each hero in Overwatch and listen to them while playing the character the playlist was made for. 2 of the characters I made playlists for, D.Va and Genji, I used anime music for and I was wondering if anyone had any song recommendations for either of the characters that I could add to their playlists. I was particularly looking for recommendations for D.Va, cause I wanted to use cutesy, girly moe anime OPs for her but don't really know of any, and I thought some of you *cough*Info*cough* might have some to recommend. If you want to know what type of music I'm looking for with each character, here are the poasts where I showed the playlists and talked about what types of songs I want:

Genji: big name shounen anime OPs. Because weeb. I wanted to go with songs that sounded particularly like your typical anime openings and avoided weirder ones like Jojos. I also tried to stick with a bit of an uplifting theme and stayed away from the darker and edgier OPs (like I really wanted to use the second Death Note OP, but that OP is super edgy and more like Reaper's territory, lol). And of COURSE there are a lot of Naruto OPs. Not only did they tend to fit best, but...c'mon, did you really expect me to use anime OPs for Genji and NOT use Naruto? I was practically obligated to put them in :monster:

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

D.Va: chiptune and/or anything that sounded particularly "video game-y", and a little bit of K-Pop (I don't actually listen to K-Pop so there's not that much unfortunately). Pretty obvious, and probably the second easiest soundtrack to think of after Reaper :monster:. I also tried to do some cutesy anime OPs, but after thinking about it I realized I actually don't know as many as I thought I did :S. There's also a little bit of overlap with this and Tracer's playlist
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

If you're not familiar with the characters/OW in general, here are some gameplay montages of the characters (they don't really showcase the characters very well, but it's all I can think of, sorry)

Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari which was used in the ED for Bakemonogatari.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLPs_w-FepA" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLPs_w-FepA</a>

And probably best of all, Eromanga Sensei OP and ED

Most of these are only about a third of the full song, so if you like any of them there are full length versions available.

Hmm it doesn't seem to be on Crunchyroll UK which makes me sad. I may try to watch it online but the premise does sound like my sort of thing- character focused and all that.
Death Parade is great. I've also watched "Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon" lately which was quite a bit of fun. Assassination Classroom's 1st season which was hilarious and now the 2nd season is up on UK crunchyroll will look forward to watching more of. SAO's 2nd season which I found better than the first but mostly because of Sinon. I still find most of the characters a bit flat.
I'm thinking about checking out Re:Zero next actually as I've heard so many good things about it and parallel universes intrigue me.

I didn't find Assassination Classroom to be as fun as others who reviewed it. I think it's the characters feeling underwhelming to me as well as each episode seeming so same-y.

I really need to watch Kino's Journey. It just felt intimidating when first I tried watching it. Then again I was really down at the time. I may give Maria the Virgin Witch another shot too because it has more accurate medieval combat than most live action period piece movies.

Assassination Classroom. It reminds me a bit of Angel Beats in tone tbh as it's so wacky while still having serious moments interjected. I wouldn't say it's my favorite show ever (it's not FMA:B *snerk*) but its entertaining and colourful, and while I do agree the characters don't get as much attention and development as some shows contain, there are a few of them that do stand out- to me at least- such as Karma whose a lovable troll and Koro-Sensei himself who is so caring and diligent in his teaching.

I've started watching Re:Zero guys. And....I'm hooked! It is expertly paced with some fun characters and top notch humor. I really like Subaru himself at the moment as he seems to be a walking TV Tropes user- I love him pointing stuff out and getting blank stares from everyone. I also love Puck because he's cute and also because he's actually not annoying for an animal sidekick. I appreciate his sass alongside the fact he seems to be genuinely a nice cat/spirit.
I also love any show/book/film/whatever that reveals the truth of the setting/world/characters bit by bit which this show has done well. I don't want to know everything about the world at the beginning, it's the mystery that keeps me watching.

It does a great job of trickling information to the viewer bit by bit. And you're right about Subaru, it's refreshing to have a genre savvy protagonist for a change.

Honestly I'd have to say Subaru is probably my second favorite protagonist (male or female) of any show. Koyomi Araragi has a couple points over him admittedly. But yeah, I've never seen a character quite like Subaru, and that being "an extremely well written NEET who behaves like an actual human."

Either way, knowing you Vay, you'll probably greatly enjoy seeing his psyche change over the course of the show.

Just remember though. Emilia? Absolute Trash. Rem? Floor grime. Crusch-sama? Literal Nazi. The real Best Girl is Ferris Argyle.

I suppose I would be horribly out of character to not at least mention that Owarimonogatari has begun airing. First two chapters have aired today, last two will air tomorrow, looks like they're double length episodes. Logical, considering the way this show is being broadcast.

I do believe I shall watch one chapter a day for the next 4 days. And... Well I literally can't talk about it at all since the bloody chapter names are spoilers. So... Full thoughts in 4 days I guess.

Misleading title, it's about the idea of giving money directly to anime studios via patreon or kickstar instead of carving up your payments between them, the licensors, and the blu-ray distributors, and the pros and cons of this idea.

Thoughts?
