I've been playing Persona 5 a lot recently, and since I didn't want to start clogging up the Anime thread (the only section that's even kinda appropriate for Persona), I figured I'd make a dedicated Persona thread

Making this is kinda awkward, cause I actually haven't really played that much Persona (not to mention I dunno if that many people here even play Persona), so yeeeeaaaaah. I have a sorta odd relationship with Persona: I tried to play Persona 3 a long time ago, and while I actually liked it a lot, I only ever got like 1/3 into the game because I made the mistake of trying to marathon it, and that caused me to get much more bored of playing the game than I otherwise would have. I tried skipping to Persona 4, but by then I was just kinda tired of the game format in general and wanted to take a break from the series entirely for a while. So in other words, I do really like Persona...but I haven't played much of it at all :S. But I have been playing a lot of Persona 5 and I like it a WHOLE lot

Also, Futaba is the best and if you disagree you are factually wrong

Futaba is almost the best but Yusuke wins hands down.  ;)

Though I have to say I like the whole cast- Goro included- and was interested in all their stories and challenges in the game. This game truly is the perfect blend of story, RPG, style, and humor in my eyes.

...and now I want to play it again, darn you. I am also listening to "Last Surprise" right now which doesn't help admittedly.

Sincerity introduced me to Persona about four years ago, and it rapidly became one of my favorite game series.

I started with P4 and fell in love with the characters, story, and EASILY the soundtrack. After that, I played Persona 3, which, despite it's vastly darker tone and naturally less refined gameplay, still was an easy favorite, with a soundtrack which is both great and VERY unique. BABY BABY BABY BABY. I started The Answer of Persona 3 FES, but got distracted or something? I do know the whole plot though, and "Heartful Cry" from later in the soundtrack is one of my favorite Persona tracks. Which is a HIGH compliment.

After that, Persona 4 Golden, which is in my top 5 favorite games, and let's be real, the TRUE way to experience Persona 4. I've also played through the story of Persona 4 Arena, and the sequel, Ultimax.

I started Persona Q and even got a SUPER STYLISH Persona Q 3DS, but I need to get back to it. And you better believe I played and loved Persona 4: Dancing All Night, the rhythm game spinoff AND LITERAL SURPRISINGLY HEAVY FINALE (so far) TO THE P4 SERIES.

Really enjoyed the Persona 4 anime and the Golden anime, and I need to see the rest of the Persona 3 movies, I've only seen the first one, but the final films remix of Burn My Dread -last battle- is actually a freaking masterpiece.

And you better believe I put 120+ hours into Persona 5.
I believed in M.A. Larson before it was cool.

Oh wow there are actual poasts here, I was about to give up on this thread. I guess you could say...I never saw it coming

Y'know, I have to admit that Yusuke is pretty great. My favorite moment was with his lobsters at the beach

(Futaba's still better though)

I seriously hope they end up making a Persona 5 Arena. I love 2D fighting games, I love ArcSys, I love Persona 5 and I never got to play P4A or P4AU :S. I think it's pretty likely for them to do it, considering how well received P5 has been and how much people have been asking for a new Persona fighting game. At the very least, I hope ArcSys releases P4A/P4AU on Steam like BB and GG (even though we all know it's never gonna happen)

I've only seen the first one, but the final films remix of Burn My Dread -last battle- is actually a freaking masterpiece.
Wait wait, you're telling me the song title isn't "Burn My Bread"?

You gotta burn your bread to make Thanatoast. :monster:

Also, "Sunset Bridge", the super mellow track that plays immediately after beating Mementos bosses is my jam. I would stop the dialogue and just let it sit there for like, 10 minutes at a time and just chill out.

My favorite characters in Persona 5, from most to least liked

1: Futaba. I mean...are you surprised? Did you even SEE my profile? But yeah, Futaba is my absolute favorite. I relate to so much about her, probably more than I should. Not to mention she's absolutely hilarious with her super blunt attitude, and she was also the only target character in the game that I was actually interested in learning about (so far anyway, haven't finished the game yet)

2: Yusuke. This guy is just a total goof and I love him. Who else besides this man would find and carry around lobsters on the beach not to eat them, but just to admire the way that they look? I'm also happy that they didn't go the route of making him a super self-serious and edgy "arteest" type, cause I feel like that would've been boring and annoying. Instead they just made him more of a well meaning naive goof who's just completely oblivious to everything besides his art, which is a lot more enjoyable and endearing

3: Tae Takemi: I realize how strange it is to put her so high up when there's not that much to her character, but...goddamn it, that punk style goes a really long way for me  :-[

4: Sayao Kawakami: I think of all the education that I missed, but then my homework was never quite like thiiiiiis! Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad, I'm hot for teacher. I got it bad, soooooo baaaaad, I'm hot for teeeaaacheeer!

5: Protagonist/Akira Kurusu: Nobody really focuses on this guy, but I do really think this is one of the best Persona protagonists. I like that he has a backstory that's not super basic and generic, and I absolutely love how some of the options you can pick for what he says are just super savage or just hilariously out-of-left-field bizarre (my favorite one is "You're a pizza smuggler")

6: Makoto Niijima: Y'know, I'm kinda torn on this character. On the one hand, she has hands down the single most kickass scene in the entire fucking game. Her persona is a goddamn motorcycle, I mean how the fuck can you beat that? Not to mention I've always loved characters that start out all proper and dignified but then says "fuck it" and drops the act halfway through the story. However...the problem is that Makoto pretty much just has that ONE scene where she does that, and then she's pretty much back to her regular self. Even in her confidant thing, she never really shows much of that rebellious side of her that made me interested in her. And it's not even that her personality is bad or anything, it's just kinda disappointing after seeing her absolutely fucking fantastic persona awakening scene that implied that she was gonna be way more awesome than she ended up being. I know Makoto is like the big favorite of the fandom, and it's not like I don't agree on some level, but I personally kinda feel like she's a bit of a one trick pony :S

Same thing for me except with Beneath the Mask. And there's a rainymood version!

I FUCKING LOVE PERSONA.

Persona 5 is a masterpiece really. It's clear that they learned from P3 and P4, and took all the best parts and smashed them all together. The story was great, the gameplay was SO fucking smooth, and fucking SHOJI MEGURO killing it AGAIN.
Ask me anything!

And Persona Q2! I need to finally get back to and finish the first! New songs and remixes means to songs for me to habitually meow at random. :monster:
