I like how they're carrying on the kinda-sorta story arcs that the show has always had, in terms of episode 3 showing Rarity offhandedly talk about finding a site for her new store, and now we have an episode delving into that in more detail.  Does a lot to kind of give a sense of continuity, and of Equestria being bigger than just what we see from the 20-minute segments that the show gives us as a window into its goings-on.

This has to be one of the funniest episodes in a while. So many good jokes either from line delivery and/or character moments. For anyone who appreciates the comedy this show can offer this is a very fun episode to watch. I loved the reality show-esque cutaways.

My sense of humor must be on strike, because it didn't really do anything for me, good or bad.

The most I can manage is mild annoyance at how the show's suddenly shoving "DJ-Pon Three" down our throats as a new name for Vinyl.

Hehe, either that's a Mirror Pool clone that got away, a changeling, or if you've seen the Friendship Games bloopers Human Pinkie in disguise

Granted, most likely it's just a gag. But this fandom has taken backgrounds gags into full-fledged stories. Why not now?

Actually it's the other way around.  Vinyl Scratch was the official name given to her after DJ Pon3 was given to her by the fans when she first appeared.  It's generally accepted that Pon3 is a stage name.

This amused me but really there are clones of all the BG ponies wandering around so this sort of takes on a meta state if you think of it that way. :P

Anyway, I really liked this episode.  Apart from one aspect, it was really fun to see all the character humour on display.  Plus Coco made a quick cameo, yay! :fsyay!:

I also liked all the call backs to past episodes and generally acknowledging that Rarity's business is expanding. :D

The only thing I didn't like was the part where the land load strong armed Rarity into hiring his daughter.  Not because I didn't like that he did it but that I don't really buy that he could.  If Rarity had been on her own then sure, the show ignores that the Mane 6 are national heroes for plot reasons all the time, but Twilight's in the damn room!  All she has to do is say, "um yeah I'm literally Royalty so go away before I seize this building and just give it to my friend"  and he would be able to exactly nothing about it.  At the very least she could have him arrested for extortion. :-\

Ya know I can't help but think one of her S3 clones wondered off and got a life over the course of a few seasons.

DJ PON-3 has always been the officially-used name. Remember the old Equestria Girls song?

Yeah that's her canon name, ain't it? P.S was "ruh-roh" a Scooby Doo ref?

This was just a plain delightful episode. :D  I really liked the way that they played with the format of delivery, as the alternation between the interview portions and the flashback portions was really, really effective, and a neat departure from how the show usually goes.  Also I loved how Pinkie kept having more and more plates of stuff that she's been eating as the episode continued. :monster:

Not really much to say about it beyond that.  Definitely one of the best episodes thus far in the season, and a nice return to form from what I thought was a bit of a below-average just-OK episode that was the last episode. :)

This was an alright episode. It kind of reminded me of Castle Sweet Castle. Except with the ponies helping with Rarity's boutique as opposed to Twilight's Castle. I wasnt really fond of the plaid stripes character. And my major question in this is...Where was Starlight? It makes me think that this episode was maybe supposed to air earlier?

I don't feel Starlight needs to necessarily be in every episode. I think she's still a little ways from being a true 7th main character. We've had the six since the very beginning of the show, and Starlight's only been a protagonist for 8-9 episodes. (Of which she only appears in 3-4 of those)

I think it's still important this season puts some major focus on her (As otherwise the less we learn about Starlight the more her sudden turn-around in the finale lingers on further), but I think it's safer to say Starlight's more like a new secondary character like Spike and the CMC. They certainly could appear even in episodes they may not be necessarily important in but otherwise aren't truly part of the core. Maybe the rest of the season will prove me wrong on this front. But that's what I see so far.

I loved Twilight's Sweep Song. It was actually kind of catchy considering what they were doing.

Amusing choice of framing device, and I like how they actually kept some suspense throughout the episode about exactly what they were all so worried about until we came to each scene...  :)

You aren't writing this down, are you?  :P

Best episode of the season so far. Which is amusing since "No Second Prances" is the runner up and Nick Confalone wrote that too. I think with Amy Keating Rogers gone, he's probably my favorite writer now.

The humor was so on point. The characterization was amazing. Great pacing. Great conclusion. I laughed out loud so many times.

5 stars.

The episode's in-episode title is "The Saddle Row Review", so that's what I changed the thread to... it seems like "Saddle Row & Rec" was a working title that persisted in the marketing or something. It'd be interesting to know why it was changed, though I do personally prefer the new title.
